The Israeli Opera Presents The Child Dreams and Tosca
At the 2012 Wiesbaden May Festival
The Israeli Opera is proud to announce that it has been invited to perform at the 2012 Wiesbaden May Festival. The Israeli Opera will present two productions in Wiesbaden: The Child Dreams by Gil Shohat after a play by Hanoch Levin, which was commissioned by and premiered at the Israeli Opera in 2010, directed by Omri Nitzan and designed by Gottfried Helenwein. The second production to be performed in Wiesbaden is Tosca, directed and designed by Hugo de Ana. Israeli Opera music director, David Stern, will conduct both productions. The Israeli Opera will come to Wiesbaden with the opera orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, the Israeli Opera Chorus, opera soloists from Israel and abroad and the opera's technical staff – altogether close to 300 people. This will be the Israeli Opera's second tour to Wiesbaden, following performing La traviata in the 2005 Wiesbaden May Festival. The 2012 tour will be the sixth international tour of the Israeli Opera. Previous tours were to Frankfurt (The Turn of the Screw), Savonlinna Opera Festival (L'elisir d'amore and Elektra), Berlin (L'elisir d'amore), Wiesbaden (La traviata) and Rome (A Journey to the End of the Millennium) to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel.
