Ouval Israel, translator
Was born in the south of Tel Aviv. He began his artistic activities as a literary consultant to the Bat Sheva Dance Company in a work based on Hebrew poetry which was recited by Hanna Maron to choreography of John Cranko. He is one of the first opera surtitles translators in the world. He translates for surtitles almost all Israeli Opera productions. He also translates operas for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and guest productions in various festivals around Israel. He also translated numerous films including all the Walt Disney films, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Henry V, Much Ado About Noting (directed by Kenneth Branagh), Amadeus (direcetd by Milos Forman), Cyrano de Bergerac (directed by Jean Paul Rappeneau) as well as many films directed by Woody Allen, Francois Truffaut, Federico Felini and many others.
