Abigail Sandler, Stage Director, was born in the USA and grew up in Israel. She is currently on the Stage Directing Staff at The Metropolitan Opera, she most recently Assistant Directed David McVicar’s production of Tosca (Puccini). She has assisted on Yevgeny Onegin (Tchaikovsky) in the Santa Fe Opera and on Die Zauberflote (Mozart) in the Des Moines Opera. At the Israeli Opera she works as an assistant director on numerous productions with directors such as Alessandro Talevi, Stefano Poda, Pier Francesco Maestrini, Jean-Claude Auvray, Michiko Taguchi, Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, Tomer Zvulun, Julien Lubek and Cecile Roussat, Javier Ulacia, Shirit Lee Weiss and others. She worked as an assistant director and producer of opera productions with many orchestras and ensembles in Israel. She was the producer and director of the Israeli Opera’s Saturday morning concert series. She is the revival director of the Israeli Opera community productions of The Magic Flute (Mozart) and the Children hours productions of the Magic Flute (Mozart), Cinderella (Rossini) and Hansel and Gretel (Humperdinck).
She is a graduate of Indiana University’s Jacob school of music with a degree in Voice.
