He works in opera, theatre and dance. Recent productions include Jenufa and Makropulos Case (Janacek) for English National Opera, The Turn of the Screw (Britten) at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Siegfried (Wagner) for English National Opera, Pique Dame (Tchaikovsky) for the Bavarian Staatsoper, One Touch of Venus (Weill) for Opera North, Imeneo (Handel) for Glimmerglass Opera, the premiere of the musical Beauty and the Beast for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the play A Day in the Death of Joe Egg on Broadway. At the Israeli Opera he designed the lighting for La traviata (Verdi).
