Emmanuel Joel-Hornak was born in France. He has lead major orchestras around the world in opera and orchestral works and has recently conducted productions with English National Opera, Aix-en -Provence Festival, NBR New-Zealand Opera, Scottish Opera, L'Opéra de Paris-Bastille, the Wexford Festival, as well as the conducting the leading opera companies of Lyon, Nantes, Montpellier, Toulouse, Sydney, Strasbourg as well as many American opera houses including those of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and many others. His wide operatic repertoire includes Don Carlo, La traviata (Verdi), Don Pasquale (Donizetti), Samson et Dalila (Saint-Saens), Vanessa (Barber), Faust, Romeo et Juliette (Gounod), Les Contes des Hoffmann, La Périchole (Offenbach), Les Pêcheurs des Perles, Carmen (Bizet), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Paisiello), Don Quixote, Werther, Manon (Massenet), Pelléas et Mélisande (Debussy), Il trittico, La boheme (Puccini), Béatrice et Benedict (Berlioz), Le Roi Arthus (Chausson), Lakmé (Delibes) and many other operas.
