Carlos Vilán, choreographer

Carlos Vilán, choreographer, was born in Argentina. He began studying Spanish dance with Fontanes, Patinño, Vera, Nouché and Angel Pericet. He has been dancing with Antonio Gades Company for the movie El Amor Brujo of Carlos Saura. He was lead dancer in the companies of Maria Rosa, Merche Esmeralda, Rafael Aguilar and Carmen Cortés. He was invited as an international dancer to the Dance Stars Gala with Maya Plisetskaya, Silvie Guillem, Lola Greco, Aida Gómez and Antonio Canales. He was the director of the Ballet of Teatro Avenida of Buenos Aires. He has created many choreographies for television programs, operas and Zarzuelas including Carmen (Bizet) and La traviata (Verdi). Carlos Vilán creates in numerous styles from Flamenco and classical Spanish to modern styles. This is his first work for the Israeli Opera
